It's not even safe to be on public wifi these days due to the many security issues of browsing in the open. So whatever Cricket seems to think it wants to do with wifi, I'm definitely going to kill. It turns out it's now in the wi-fi settings menu. I declined, but was curious where the features went, since I couldn't find the Cricket wi-fi manager app on the phone or in the Play store. Today I set up a new Cricket S9, and lo and behold on the set up process it asks to agree to Cricket Wi-fi manager. I did not have the same issue with My Cricket app on my Android, however. So he theorized My Cricket app was interfering with wifi connectivity on the G4 somehow. Later one interesting thing he did was he noticed he had My Cricket app on it, and when he removed it from the phone, the G4 would connect to wifi just fine, but as soon as it was reinstalled it, the phone would not be able to connect to wifi.
He reset the phone, tried all kinds of diagnosis but could find no issue, so he ended up buying a new phone. My friend with a Moto G4 Plus started having issues recently where it would refuse to connect to his wifi. So I killed it and removed it from my Android phone. It caused my Android phone to connect to every single open wifi network, even random wif-connected printers, streaming devices, etc., even just driving by a random house. It was a separate app for Android that one could download. I tried out the Cricket wi-fi manager 2 years ago when I switched to Cricket.
